Self-Pierce Riveting System
Blow Feed vs Tape Feed

Listed below are a number of ways in which the blow feed system has proven superior to the tape feed method in delivering the rivets to the clinching mechanism.

  • Tape is unreliable since it may break and cause jamming. Blow feed is air fed.
  • Some rivet head sizes are unsuited to tape feed. Blow feed will handle all sizes.
  • Disposal of the tape can be problematic.
  • The machine must be stopped to change the tape. With a blow feed system, you just top the bowl periodically. You don't stop the machine.
  • Cost of the ATC fastener is inexpensive in comparison with the tape fed rivet. Generally one third of the price.
  • Rivet boxes are easier and cheaper to store than the ape rolls.
  • Tape is unsuited to robotic operation - you have to stop the robot and move it to a convenient height to change the tape.
  • Having to mount rivet-holding spool on the head of the robot can interfere with the movement of robot head. Additional weight must also be considered.
  • Our system is capable of supplying various lengths of rivets to the same clinching head. This feature is not available with the tape feed method.

ATC can supply you with two different purpose rivet carriers.
